A final good riddance send-off to 2020...

An ode to Chuck Jones’ 1943 “Wackikii Wabbit” animated short.
Panel 1: actual advert duping young, impressionable ding-dongs (like me) to get into illustrating, cartooning, whatever...
Panels 2 & 3*: reality bites.
* loosely based somewhat on real-life events.
Here’s another Scribble-Dee-Doo-Dah, drawn specifically as a mere facebook comment.
Voice-talent guy Jim Cutler, well-known connoisseur of the humble donut, shared this photo in his social feed - the Papyrus-heavy signage of Garden Of Bacon in Sea Cliff, NY.
Admit it - just reading the establishment’s name made you drool!
My comment to his post, in toon form, is featured below:
When you’re in the market for a television nowadays, naturally you want the biggest goddamn screen available - - what’s the standard size nowadays? 120”?
Well, did you know the earliest TV screen was not rectangular, nor any corner-endowed shape, but was ROUND?
No, seriously! There’s actually a reason for it! Click here to learn more.
So, based on the above photo - sourced from ATOMIC LIVING facebook group - I scribbled a toon of pure absurd logic:
When playing Monopoly™, why is it EVERY TIME I end up with this Chance card?
2020 claims yet another beloved character actor, Jeremy Bulloch, best known in the Star Wars verse as iconic bounty hunter Boba Fett.
Here, “Dooby” - the sentient Boba Fett costume - has a few words for his heartbroken fans.
Another recent Caricature commission (for free, or course!).
A family version this time ‘round, clearly with a superhero vibe (licensing approvals pending I’m sure).(#notifIcanhelpit). The family being of my manager’s:
He being Superman; the wife as Wonder Woman; the boy embracing all that is Hulk; and the little girl as her own character: “Glitter Girl”®.
Normally I’d provide a post like this with actual photos of the subject(s) to compare, but I’ll need consent before that ever happens.
A caricature requested by management at work - this is 1 of 2 (the latter’s still in development).
Subject’s name is Dora : she was the designers’ wrangler as Creative Manager (among other roles) - she’s moved on to better things, I hope, as a buyer at Kmart.
Why a naval superpower aircraft carrier theme?
Well, from what I learned from Dora when discussing our favorite movies of all time (mine’s “All The President’s Men”, by the way), hers was “Top Gun”.
Yep. You heard right.
So, naturally I’ve depicted a fairy-winged Dora “buzzing” the carrier’s deck crew.
Special guest star : Wilson from “Castaway”.
As previously mentioned in an older post, there’s always that fear I didn’t truly capture the likeness of the subject… I guess I’ll find out tomorrow at work
People at work have taken notice of my cartoonistic scribble ramblings I unsolicitedly email to everyone - usually as a reply to something emailed out by management. Instead of being reprimanded (or fired!), thankfully, they’re fully appreciative of the humorous break from a sometimes monotonous production workflow. Haven’t been told to stop this practice, so I’ll continue doing it until the higher-pay-grade people tell me I’ve gone too far…. not that I’d comply, of course.
Anyhoo, as the year slowly comes to a close, I’ve seen an uptick in cartoony requests of late.
The above caricature was commissioned by Diann in Accounts Receivable.
At right is the caricature subject : his nickname is “HAIRY”; he likes to fish and is quite keen on American BBQs.
As with all caricatures I do, I always fear the end result won’t look like the subject at all. Thankfully, Diann was happy with the result.
Just a birthday illo I posted on Jim Cutler’s facebook page - a talented voice actor-type guy I’ve admired since, literally, hearing of his existence via his Serving Donuts podcast (2008-2009). If you’ve ever watched & listened to North American TV & radio, chances are you would’ve heard his voice at some point. Just check out his credits for pete’s sake!
If you can’t tell, Jim’s a big fan of the donut.
Know anyone who hasn't voted? Or won't?
Then share one of these enticing calorie-heavy panels to get them skedaddling to the voting booth.
That's typical of those devious frontline health workers -- always scheming to make a quick covid death buck!
*facepalm*
Global email at work read (along the lines of) "to celebrate the sports team comprised entirely of Panthera Tigrises (it would seem), please frisky-feast upon the box of cupcakes!".
And my response was……….
Tired of developing web sites?
Do you crave procrastinating while open projects need completion?
Is Halloween around the corner?
Are you just a simple mook with a camera phone?
Then creating a piece of crap like this is for you!
Rudy Giuliani - former NY mayor and current Russian "useful idiot" - Trump & Pence (with debate fly) discuss how to handle Giuliani's unfortunate compromising hotel scene in the latest Borat film, already in progress:
One year older…. I’m… so happy… can’t you tell?
Herd immunity? More like cow cosplayers to the slaughter! Moo!
A real-time side-by-side dueling presidential town hall on competing networks comparison.
Dr. Rick, world renowned Parenta-Life Coach (Parentology) - yes, THAT Dr. Rick from those Progressive Insurance TV commercials - guides a group of young homeowners with the very real struggle not to turn into their bigoted, science-denying, race-supremacy delusional parents.
For those who're not aware of Dr. Rick’s mockumentary TV spots, take a look below:
